Eric and Ana welcome Tammy Simon in from the Menomonie Chamber and cover a wide variety of the amenities and activities Menomonie and its surroundings have to offer. From the beautiful downtown peppered with murals and sculptures adjacent to both the UW-Stout campus and Lake Menomin to the city’s three craft breweries and the area’s recreational opportunities on trails like the Red Cedar and landscapes like Hoffman Hills, Devil’s Punchbowl, and Woodwind Park, this city of 16,000 is showcased in detail.

Tammy Simon, Tourism Director from the Menomonie Chamber, joins Eric and Ana in The Cabin as the
conversation covers many aspects of Menomonie and the surrounding areas of Dunn County. It begins
with the general “lay of the land,” including its handy location right between the Twin Cities and Eau
Claire at the northern edge of Wisconsin’s Driftless Area. They take you through numerous national
landscape features including the Devil’s Punchbowl, Hoffman Hills, and the beauty of the Red Cedar
River and Lake Menomin along with how the Red Cedar State Trail and other access points allow you
fully enjoy them in outdoor endeavors. Downtown, which adjoins the University of Wisconsin-Stout,
includes the stunning Mabel Tainter Theater and Center for the Arts, murals, sculptures, shops, and
three breweries: Zymurgy, Lucette, and brewery nønic. For recreation, you can enjoy the river and lake
right in town along places like nearby Woodwind Park, where Tammy relays the story of the couple that
has been resurrecting this recreational playland northeast of the city. Throughout the area, disc golf is a
particularly fast-growing sport and Tammy also discusses several options for playing and learning about
it. Racing is also popular with Red Cedar Speedway offering exciting – and loud! – action throughout the
summer. Menomonie also has plenty of wonderful restaurants and serves as a center for production of
Swiss Miss cocoa as well as cheese, with a newer Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery opening recently
where you can watch production and enjoy Wisconsin’s favorite food. Eric and Ana weave in stories
